About Me
Welcome to enchan.org. This is my personal space for software projects, writing, and the parts of life that keep shaping how I work.
I was born in Germany and moved to Japan in 2017. Living and working in a different culture has shaped how I communicate, solve problems, and stay curious.
Professionally, I enjoy improving existing applications, building new systems, and automating the work that should not have to be repeated by hand. I care about pragmatic software, reliable delivery, and tools that make daily work clearer.
These days I most enjoy working with Rails, but I do not think the language should come first. The right tool depends on the purpose and the problem in front of me. Before Ruby became my main day-to-day stack, I spent many years with Java, JavaScript, and TypeScript, so I am comfortable moving between backend systems, frontend applications, and delivery work.
Endurance sport is an important part of my life. Triathlon and ultramarathon training give me structure, patience, and a useful reminder that steady progress usually beats intensity alone.
Away from the screen and training plan, I spend time with bonsai and other plants. It is quiet work, and a good counterbalance to software and sport.
I also make time for volunteer work, including helping with the local newspaper and supporting a temple in Saitama where I sometimes join Zazen practice.
Learning Japanese is part of that same long-term practice. It helps me connect more deeply with the place I live and keeps me humble in the best possible way.
